Programs built upon mutual relationships between countries of relatively similar educational systems, enabling students from ages as young as 11 years old till university assistants and lecturers to swap their educational positions for a certain period (usually an academic semester or an academic year).
The main targets of such programs are to develop mutual relationships, understanding, friendships, educational and technical knowledge …etc.
Usually there are non governmental organizations that supervise those programs and facilitate all documents preparation, housing, medical care …etc.
Recently, the private sector played an important role in these programs especially in North America and Western Europe.
